Forest Hills Community Church is currently working with the Assemblies of God World Mission agency to see how we can best help the people of Haiti. As you all may know, there are several Haitians in our congregation, and this tragedy really hits close to home. Please know that our hearts and prayers are not only with our people here in NYC, but also with their families in Haiti and elsewhere.It is times like this where we are grateful to be part of a denomination like the Assemblies of God. As one of the world's largest missionary agencies, the Assemblies of God has numerous people and projects based in Haiti. We are working with them to discern where the help is needed the most and when. Typically, it is not the initial support that is most beneficial, but rather than support that comes months after the tragedy when the "shock" has worn off and reality becomes clearer.
We hope to have a formal response by the end of the week, both to our initial and long term plan of action to Haiti. THANK YOU for your compassion and questions.
